Those who own vehicles are familiar with jumper cables. The jumper cable is very indispensable in the functioning of the vehicles. It can perform different roles in different activities of vehicles. Their normal use is as a battery charger in the vehicle. For those who may not know jumper cables can be used to start a vehicle even when the battery is dead. To use the jumper cables to start a vehicle one still needs another life battery which the jumper battery would use to connect to the dead battery to kick start that vehicle with a dead battery. However caution needs to be taken here to avoid spark and damage in the vehicle. That is why it is necessary that the services of the expert should be sought and used. It is the expert who knows how to do the connection correctly. Even after the connection and kick starting the vehicle it is necessary that you take the right step in disconnecting the jumper cable as bad disconnection had its own implications. What this means is that the services of a trained personal should always be sought before one decides to use the jumper cables to start a vehicle that has a dead battery. The important of the jumper cable is that once it is used to start the vehicle it will start running in the process it will recharge the dead battery.

However for those who do not have the means to employ the services of trained personal for the connection and the disconnection of the jumper cables the following instructions can be adhered to for both the connection and disconnection. If one follows the instructions to the letter then one can easily do the connection and the disconnection of the jumper cable without looking for the assistance of anybody.

For personal effort in using the jumper cables to kick start the vehicle you will need certain items and they include the jumper cables, vehicles which battery is dead and another vehicle which battery is charged. You will know when you will need a jumper cable and that would be after using your car key to turn your vehicle and the engine makes a click it is evidence that the battery is down and therefore needs support to start the vehicle. However if after using the car key to start the vehicle and the engine makes a starting noise  and other appliances in the car such as the car radio and the light worked then this is an evidence that the battery may not be the problem. It is good you know when the car would need a jumping cable to start the car.

The other step to take is to introduce the jumper cable which will be used assuming that the battery is the problem. Check the jumper cables to make sure that it is in order. What will determine whether the jumper cable is in order is when it is straight, and the two ends are attached with a clip one end is a red clip and the other end is a black clip.

The other step that is required to bring the other component that is needed to start the vehicle which is the vehicle with a charged battery has to be brought closer to the vehicle with a dead battery. The proximity between the two vehicles has to be such that they are packed at a convenient place where the cable can access the two vehicles. Since the battery with a dead battery cannot move it is the vehicle with a charged vehicle that would be brought closer.

The next step is the connection of the jumper cables to the two vehicles and this can be done in very easy steps. One end of the cable that is the end with the red clip to the positive terminal of the battery that is dead. Always look for the positive signal to be sure that the connection is done correctly. To identify the positive terminal, it is always larger than the other terminal. Before you attach the terminals you must remove the plastic cover which is used to protect the terminal. The clip however has to be attached to the metal part of that terminal nub.

The next step is to attach the positive terminal this time to the battery of the vehicle that is charged. You can always determine that by the same processes that are used to identify the other car. Just like in the dead battery the clip of the cable has to be attached to the metal of the battery at its terminal nub.

The next stage in the cable connection processes is to locate the black click and connect them as well. These black clips have to be attached to the negative terminal of the charged battery. The remaining terminal which has a negative sign should be used to identify the negative terminals of the batteries. The clip should be fastened to the metal part of that terminal nub. The same process should equally be repeated at the other car that has a dead battery. It should also be fastened at the metal part of that battery. Note of warning here with the end of the connection processes it is possible that the jumper cables could spark a bit. If that happens to be the case you should not be frightened that is usually the case. Even if you decide to touch any part of that metal you are save because you would not shock.

When this connection is done it is the time to see the effect of the jumper cable. What you will do at this point is to start the vehicle with dead battery. It should start immediately with the help of the jumper cable. After the car has started then the jumper cables can now be disconnected following the same processes they are connected to the vehicles. The vehicle with the dead battery can now run around during the process the battery would have charged and would be able to start the vehicle without the support of another battery.
